Welcome to Michigan Early Childhood Assessment (ECA) for Infants, Toddlers, and Young Children

It’s never too early to give a child a healthy start in life!

The opportunity to screen and assess a young child’s social and emotional health begins as early as birth. By working with families to assess their child’s development, we can determine which children need help to develop the crucial social and emotional skills they need to overcome challenges and manage the daily stresses of life. Social and emotional health is essential to school and life success.

The Early Childhood Assessments (ECA) Include Devereux Early Childhood Assessments (DECA) for Infants & Toddlers and the DECA Clinical

The ECA assessments measure the social-emotional functioning of children ages birth up to age six. They are initially administered to all children ages birth to age 6 within 30 days of referral, and again between 13 and 14 months of service, and three times a year thereafter.
